Career & Life

The Journey

From university basketball courts to tech production systems. Every stop shaped how I build, lead, and compete.

Kelowna, BC
  • Academic All Canadian two years running (2019/20 & 2020/21)
  • Varsity Men's Player of the Year (2019/2020)
  • Gym sessions, physio, practice, weekend road trips for away games. Then assignments, group projects, quizzes, and exams, every week.
  • Still found time for friends, wing nights, video games, and a show or two. The balance was intentional.
  • Full student. Full athlete. No shortcuts.
2021 – 2022 Developer

Software Developer

University of British Columbia

Remote (Calgary, AB)
  • Joined the role 2 months before graduating. Still finishing a CS degree, already building in production.
  • Migrated 60,000+ user-facing pages from PHP 5.3 to 7.4 across the entire UBC Okanagan web platform
  • Coordinated with professors, department leads, and staff across the university to understand each site before making a single change
  • Treated it as more than a version upgrade. Every site came out with better code quality and improved reliability.
  • Operated fully remote with root-level access to the entire platform. Nothing went down throughout the migration.
2022 Travel

The Detour

Between Chapters

UK, Spain & Portugal
  • Wrapped up at UBC and took a beat before the next role. Booked a flight to Europe.
  • UK, Spain, Portugal. New cities, new food, and proof that there is more to life than shipping code.
  • Mental health is a priority. The break was intentional. Came back sharper for it.
2022 – 2023 Developer

Field Safe Solutions

Downtown Calgary, AB
  • Built safety compliance software used daily by construction and field professionals working across remote industrial sites in Canada
  • Designed and optimized check-in modules and safety workflows for both the product owners managing the platform and the workers relying on it in the field
  • First in-person downtown role. Morning commute into the heart of Calgary, lunch at The Core or Sunterra with colleagues and old schoolmates, traffic back in the evening. A challenging, but real routine.
  • Connected with like-minded, goal-oriented people well beyond the office walls. Built a network and a foundation in Calgary.

  • Took over a Shopify app submission that had failed three times prior, which was then approved in 4 days. The suggested timeline for approval is two weeks.

  • Shipped a full portal and badge revamp, the company website, and multiple cross-platform upgrades. AWS-backed infrastructure with deliberate emphasis on security, versioning, and compatibility.
